Holli Massey is a creative producer and director working across film and immersive experiences.
With over 30 years’ experience across film, advertising, events and project development, she has worked internationally, producing and developing work in China, India, Australia, the United States, the UK and Ireland.
Her work spans the full lifecycle of a project – from early-stage development through to production and delivery. She collaborates with producers, writers, directors and musicians to shape and realise ambitious, interdisciplinary work.
Starting her career at Thirty Second Street Films in Melbourne at aged 18, Holli was offered a production management position at 21 with one of the city’s leading production companies, Renegade Films. It was here that she began her professional training, working on some of Australia’s leading advertising campaigns, which led her to a successful freelance career.
From 2011 to 2016, Holli produced for Melbourne-based commercial DP/director Tov Belling. Together, they founded Cognition, generating AUD $1 million in their first year through a global Olympic campaign for Swisse Vitamins, alongside a slate of car commercials and branded content for some of Australia’s leading advertising agencies and brands.
In 2016 Holli moved to Ireland and worked with Dublin commercial company Hinterland. In 2017 she cast over 1000 extras and special extras for director David Freyne’s The Cured (staring Elliot Page, Sam Keeley and Tom Vaughan-Lawlor).She subsequently worked with award-winning director, Carmel Winters on Float Like a Butterlfy (staring Hazel Doupe, Dara Daveney and Johnny Collins),also casting the extras/special extras.
Alongside this work, Holli has developed a slate of film and television projects over the past two decades, including a long-term collaboration with writer and executive producer Jeremy Massey.
This work includes the published novel The Last Four Days of Paddy Buckley (Riverhead, Penguin, New York, 2015), which has evolved through multiple stages of film and television development and is now currently being developed as a television series, The Undertaking, with writer Russell Friedenberg and producer Heather Rae.
Holli secured finance, produced, and wrote/directed the documentary Million Dollar Kids, an investigation into the impact of the digital landscape on young people. The film was executive produced by Kathleen Glynn (Bowling for Columbine, Fahrenheit 9/11), and co-written with Yvonne Murray (RTÉ journalist) and Jeremy Massey.
Holli is currently developing and producing Trasnaíocht (Irish word meaning crossing or transition), an interdisciplinary music and performance work in collaboration with award-winning UK composer Benji Bower. Exploring themes of migration, belonging and identity, the work brings together live music, narrative and audience experience in an immersive format. Following its world premiere at the Ballydehob Jazz Festival in Ireland, Trasnaíocht is now in development for international touring and festival presentation through Vulpine Creations (launching soon).
Her work focuses on projects that explore psychology, the human condition and the complexities of contemporary life.
She works with experienced artists and collaborators committed to developing ambitious work and bringing it fully into form.
